About the Position:
This job provides the opportunity to support the mission of the Corpus Christi Army Depot; which is to overhaul, repair, modify, retrofit, test and modernize helicopters, engines and components for all services and foreign military customers. The Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD) is the Army's Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence for Rotary Wing Aviation Maintenance. We also provide worldwide on-site maintenance services, aircraft crash analysis, lubricating oil analysis, and chemical, metallurgical and training support. Positions include those providing support to the maintenance of helicopters in a variety of shops or in an office setting.

You will serve as a Machinist (CNC Programmer) for the Directorate of Manufacturing and Process Production. You will create and edit Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) programs for a variety of modern machining equipment that may consist of continuous tool or cutter paths using multi-axis manipulation, live tooling, in process measuring cycles using electronic measuring equipment, and/or multiple tool changes, program stops, and operator messages. You will create initial programs using CAD/CAM systems which may need manual editing or revising at the machining center as the program is verified. Program machining equipment to account for sequence of repair, speeds and feeds and coolant flow, orientation of part, material types, fixturing, tooling, grade level of the operator, and procedures to measure and assure quality of product according to technical data requirements and within an economical time frame. Work with machinist supervisors or work leaders, machinists, quality, and/or engineering personnel to prove-out and debug programs towards achieving a successful first article product that may include a form, fit, and function verification.

PHYSICAL EFFORT:
May be required to lift items weighing up to 35 pounds without
assistance, and over 50 pounds with assistance from another worker or weight
handling equipment.The work involves continuous standing and
reaching with intermittent walking, stooping, bending, sitting, and lifting. Overhead
crane, hand trucks, lifts and other workers are available to assist with
heavier items.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in a well-lighted, heated, ventilated shop with concrete floors. Exposed to dust from grinding, oil from machines, dirt, heat, noises, and fumes. Subject to the hazards of burns from hot metal chips, dust in the lungs, cuts, bruises, injuries to hands from use of machine and hand tools, skin irritation from contact with coolants, lubricants, and abrasive compounds, and to strains from infrequent moving, lifting, and handling of heavy items. Wears safety glasses and other safety equipment as required.
