The Tribal Relations Advisor position is located within the Department of the Interior, Office of the Secretary, Office of Land Buy-Back. The Advisor for Tribal Relations serves a critical role in the formulation and implementation of strategies designed to reduce fractionation through increased awareness, outreach, and utilization of the Land Buy-Back Program. The Advisor for Tribal Relations is a principal liaison and point of contact for all Tribal outreach initiatives, including the identification and synergistic implementation of Tribal priorities.
This position will be located in Arlington, VA

Salary Information:
GS-11: $64,650-$84,044 per annum. GS-12: $77,490-$100,736 per annum.
First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level.

The Office of the Secretary has determined the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval.

At the full performance level (GS-12) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
1) Builds and fosters collaborative relationships with Tribal Governments and Tribal Organizations.
2) Serves as a primary contact for Indian Tribes, Tribal Organizations, and individual Indians regarding the land consolidation program.
3) Assists in developing, approving, executing, and overseeing assigned aspects of cooperative agreements, including drafting Requests for Proposals and evaluating responses.
4) Assists in developing strategic, multi-faceted outreach plans to increase awareness of the consolidation program.
5) Responsible for ensuring Program Managers are aware of all of the overarching issues that relate to successful implementation of the land consolidation plan; including Tribal perspectives and ideas related to improvement of the land consolidation program.
