This position is located in the Department of Occupational Audiology, Directorate for Public Health at the U.S. Naval Hospital (USNH), Yokosuka, Japan. The purpose of the position is to provide direct inpatient and outpatient care involving the full range of audiology and balance evaluation and treatment services including the selection and fitting of hearing aids and other amplification systems and devices, aural rehabilitation plans, and counseling of hearing impaired patients and their families.

A typical day in the life of an Audiologist :
- Perform the full range of Audiological activities for the care of inpatients and outpatients presenting with the most difficult and complex hearing disorders.
- Evaluation and management of vestibular system disorders.
- Evaluation, selection, fitting and programming of middle ear and bone-anchored hearing aids.
- Evaluation, selection and fitting of conventional hearing aids and assistive listening devices.
- Plan, conduct, and coordinate aural rehabilitation, tinnitus, and/or vestibular rehabilitation programs for patients.

Degree: Applicants must have successfully completed a master's degree in Audiology or Doctor of Audiology (Ph.D or Au.D) degree that included 18 semester hours in the field of Audiology with approved clinical practice. 2. License: Applicants must possess a current, active, valid Audiologist license awarded by any state. Please make sure your resume specifies the state which awarded your license, and most recent date it was awarded.

3. Board certification through either a Certificate of Clinical Competence (Audiology) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA-CCCA), or certification through the American Board of Audiology.
IN ADDITION TO MEETING THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION, YOUR RESUME MUST REFLECT THE SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE AND SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR:
1. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have one or more years of progressively related experience. Examples of experience providing audiometric testing, evaluation and remedial services; conducting and interpreting specialized test procedures; evaluating, assessing, and managing vestibular system disorders; evaluating and managing central auditory processing disorders for both adults and children; performing electrophysiological testing such as evoked brainstem testing.

SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR: This position has a Selective Placement Factor (screen-out) which will be used to determine minimum qualifications for this position. Applicants not possessing this Selective Placement Factor will be found ineligible for this position. The Selective Placement Factor is: Possession of a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Failure to document or attach a copy of the current certification will result in an ineligible rating.
