This is an open continuous announcement for Supervisory Range Technicians (Squad Leader-IHC) within Nevada. Recruitment will continue through the closing date to fill positions as they become vacant. Provides technical and administrative supervision to Interagency Hotshot Crews.
During fire suppression activities, locates fireline, directs and participates in fireline construction, backfiring and burnout operations, pump operations, tree falling and holding/patrol/mop up operations.
Gathers and considers information on weather data, topography, fuel types, and fire behavior during suppression of wildland fire incidents.
Implements formal and informal training programs to comply with policy and regulations.
This position falls under the Technical and Medical Support Group Qualification Standard and Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the Range Technician 0455 series.

THIS IS A DRUG TESTING DESIGNATED POSITION. The position is subject to random testing for illegal drug use.
You must be 18 years of age or older to be assigned to a hazardous position.

Work requires prolonged standing, walking over uneven ground, and recurring bending, reaching, lifting and carrying of items weighing over 50 pounds and shared lifting and carrying of heavier items, and similar strenuous activities requiring at least average agility and dexterity. Duties include demands for strenuous activities in emergencies under adverse environmental conditions and over extended periods of time. Operation of some specialized fire equipment can place extended physical stress on incumbent during fire activities.
You must possess a valid automobile driver's license and it must be valid at all times during your appointment to this position. You may be required to obtain a commercial driver's license within 90 days of appointment.
