This position leads the Resource Management program at the complex urban park units of Fort Sumter & Fort Moultrie National Historical Park (FOSU) and Charles Pinckney National Historic Site (CHPI) in the greater Charleston, SC area. The incumbent also provides resource management support to park managers at Reconstruction Era National Historical Park (REER) in Beaufort, SC.
The incumbent advises the Superintendents of FOSU, CHPI, and REER on all park resource management issues; serves as the expert in resource management for all park sites; develops and manages a robust resource management program that follows all applicable law, policy, and guidance; establishes professional relationships with cooperating governmental agencies, partners, and stakeholders; plans, organizes, guides and reviews all park resource management issues; supervises subordinate staff; and serves as a member of the parks' Management Teams. The incumbent develops and directs a robust and intricate program of resources management activities for cultural and natural resources that may involve sensitive and complex issues impacting a wide variety of park resources and concerns. The position reports to the FOSU Superintendent and directly supervises a GS-11 Curator, GS-11 Historian, and occasional volunteers, interns, and/or seasonal positions duty stationed at one or more park sites.

Physical Demands: The position may require strenuous physical activity including periods of standing, walking, climbing, and lifting and carrying heavy objects. Some activities will occur in physically dangerous areas or settings. Documentary research and report writing work is sedentary, which entails the ability to concentrate and write for long periods of time.
Working Conditions: Work is performed primarily indoors. Occasionally, work may be performed outdoors in all types of weather and conditions. Outdoor assignments may be performed in potentially hazardous areas including barrier islands, rocky shorelines, wetlands, swamps, and forests. On occasion, flying in fixed wing aircraft and helicopters is required.You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
