This position is located in the Load Forecasting and Analysis (KSL) organization of Customer Support Services (KS), Chief Operating Officer (K), Bonneville Power Administration (BPA).
The purpose of this position is to serve as a Mathematical Statistician (Short Term Forecaster) performing scientific work that involves designing, developing, and adapting mathematical/statistical methods and techniques to processes in carrying out short-term load analysis and forecasting activities.

As a Mathematical Statistician, you will:
BASIC REQUIREMENT:
A. Degree: that included 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, of which at least 12 semester hours were in mathematics and 6 semester hours were in statistics.
-OR-
B. Combination of education and experience -- at least 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, including at least 12 hours in mathematics and 6 hours in statistics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Experience applying analytical, mathematical and statistical theories, principles and practices to 1) analyze data using probability statistics and trend analysis; AND 2) translate data into mathematical models, forecasting and simulations; AND 3) serve as a technical advisor on various statistical analyses and methods.

Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations.
