This position is located in the Electronic Filing and Public Web Services Office, Office of the Deputy Commissioner for Trademark Administration, Office of the Commissioner for Trademarks, United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The attorneys assigned to the Electronic Filing and Public Web Services Office are responsible for formulating electronic filing policy in response to new or revised statutes and regulations, international treaties, issues that arise in trademark applications or registration maintenance practice, decisions issued by federal courts and the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB), and USPTO administrative and/or automation changes. They also oversee the legal accuracy of Trademark web content and other IT systems, render advice and legal counsel to agency officials, and other USPTO personnel, with respect to federal Trademark law, regulations, practices, and other matters falling within the purview of the Electronic Filing and Public Web Services Office.
Depending on experience, the incumbent may be hired at the GS-14 or GS-15 grade level. The promotion potential for this position is GS-15 level.

To meet minimum eligibility requirements for this position, applicants must possess at least a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree or Juris Doctor J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

This is a Public Trust position. The GS-14 position has a risk level designation of "Moderate" and the GS-15 position has a risk level designation of "High."
