Developing and implementing emergency management standards, regulations, practices, training, and procedures to identify, minimize or eliminate hazards and threats. Developing and preparing emergency management policies and plans, procedures, and risk assessment.
Program oversight and assuring adequacy of its emergency management programs. The Emergency Management Specialist acts on behalf of the Medical Center Director with delegated authority to commit or render a decision concerning a broad range of issues as they relate to the VAMC's Comprehensive Emergency Management (CEM) Program and the community plans. The incumbent is the Chairperson of the VAMC Emergency Preparedness Committee and is the key member of the Committee responsible for coordinating the development and implementation of the Veterans Affairs (VA) emergency plan across the VAMC's organizational elements. Incumbent is responsible for developing and implementing policies, procedures, contingency and operation plans and emergency systems.
Serves as the VAMC liaison with the Mountain Area Trauma Regional Advrisory Committee (MATRAC), MATRAC Multi-Agency Coordination Group, MATRAC Regional Healthcare Coalition. This involves acting as the Director's technical representative and official spokesperson for issues involving the VAMC's support to the community for disaster response, including advising on overall planning and programming requirements and mitigating problems encountered in the operation and maintenance of these associated programs at the covered facilities.
