Job Summary:
The Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) provides operations support services and business solutions to the community of 10,000 House Members, Officers, and staff. The CAO organization comprises more than 700 technical and administrative staff working in a variety of areas, including information technology, finance, budget management, human resources, payroll, childcare, food and vending, procurement, logistics and administrative counsel.
This position is in the Immediate Office, Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), U.S. House of Representatives (House), serving as an Intern and is appointed on a temporary basis for a period not to exceed 120 days. The Intern will be provided a structured educational opportunity through exposure to the business operations of the U.S. House of Representatives and Congressional Transition. The Intern will have the opportunity to rotate through different assignments to gain real life experience for their degree, certification, or professional development. This position does not have day-to-day supervisory/managerial responsibilities.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
• Provides administrative or operational support on various projects and activities.
• Provides and projects a positive customer-focused professional image in all interactions.
• Supports the CAO Transition Team with Departing, Returning and New Member activities by compiling Member and staff briefing materials and packets, creating contact lists and check-in lists, and conducting other administrative tasks as assigned.
• Conduct data analysis and generate reports upon request in support of daily Transition programs and projects.
• Support New Member Orientation program by assisting CAO staff with registration, event setup, and other customer-facing activities as needed.
• Performs other official duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements:
• High school diploma
• Associate degree or certification from an accredited business or technical school, or enrolled student in a community college, junior college, university, or graduate school program.
*Continued employment is contingent upon satisfactorily completing a criminal history records check (or other applicable security clearance) and a pre-employment drug-test (pre-identified position only).
