User Interface
Translates data analysis into process creation to implement input controls, and navigational and informational components as user interface (UI) elements across applications. Performs needs analyses to define opportunities for new or improved business process solutions. Gathers and evaluates user requirements and analyzes the data to make recommendations regarding the development of prototypes, interfaces, and mockups for testing. Collaborates on projects with other specialists. Functions in the assigned role and helps with the development and design stage through to completion, in a way that builds stakeholder buy-in and support. Makes recommendations to senior specialists and supervisors on the development of customer experience strategy. Helps in the creation of culture aimed at designing federal services around customer needs and priorities. Analyzes customer experience data to support leadership decision making. Collaborates with a wide range of stakeholders and customers to develop, evaluate and implement strategies for improving customer experience. Implements new methods toward achieving measurable outcomes.
User Experience
Designs and delivers high-quality solutions using user experience (UX) research techniques and testing to assess user behavior. Conducts feasibility studies and trade-off analyses to develop functional and system requirements that work across multiple platforms. Ensures rigorous application of information security and compliance to the systems analyses. Helps with the development, documentation, and testing of policies and requirements for troubleshooting processes. Helps with the integration of components, e.g., system processes, applications, interfaces, and designs for software and hardware components. Collaborates with programming, engineering, and customer management teams to evaluate and make improvements on existing processes and planning systems implementation.

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT.
Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-11, in the Federal Service to qualify for GS-12.
Specialized experience to qualify for GS-12 is defined as:
1. Experience in business and requirements analysis used to improve or build new business processes.
2. Knowledge of designing and conducting all levels of iterative usability testing to assess customer preference and performance improvement measurements.
3. Experience in obtaining metrics and data analytics to conduct evaluations and testing.
