The incumbent is the frontline representative responsible for the placement hearing aid service requests/repair orders and associated devices for veterans and VA clinics. The incumbent is responsible for placing orders from Veterans received via telephone or email or mail for hearing aid accessories and batteries. The position ensures all outgoing devices have the correct shipping address and are being sent in the correct shipping category for Veterans, clinics, and contracted repair vendors. The position provides quality control on each of the commercially repaired hearing devices by using visual inspections, operational checks, and manufacturer's technical data. The position provides direct assistance to clinical specialists on products or processes based on direct application of established policies, practices, and criteria. The position is responsible for initiating, maintaining, and disposing of hearing device records for Veterans and VA medical facilities via Remote Order Entry System *ROES) database. Performs other duties as needed or assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is primarily sedentary although some walking, stooping, bending, reaching and carrying of loads weighing 25 to 40+ pounds is required. The position typically works indoors in an environment involving everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such place as offices or meeting rooms. Observance of normal safety practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and fails, and observance of fire regulations is required. The area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 07/15/2022.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials.
Specialized Experience GS-07
Applicants must have One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-06) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Knowledge of order placement and order fulfillment production systems such as remote order entry systems, purchase orders, order certification, adjustments, and issues. Knowledge of supply management and inventory systems and procedures. Experience with quality assurance to include verifying, checking, and overseeing quality of service. Skills in communicating, both orally and in writing and customer service. Knowledge of different models of hearing aids from all hearing aid manufacturers, distinguishing types of hearing aids. Knowledge of hearing aids to determine the type of battery, cord or tubing, or other accessories required. Comprehensive knowledge of supply and inventory systems, distribution, and shipping/postal methods and regulations.
There is no educational substitute for the GS-07 level.
