The Auditor is responsible for the financial analysis and related investigative work associated with bankruptcy cases under applicable law. This analysis and investigative work supports the litigation and civil enforcement efforts of the USTP. Analytical and investigative assignments require a professional knowledge of accounting and financial analysis to perform work that is similar in scope and complexity to that performed by a public accounting firm. Day-to-day duties include:
Selective Placement Factor: applicant must have at least six (6) months bankruptcy experience with a basic knowledge of bankruptcy regulations and procedures. The required bankruptcy experience may be complemented by experience that includes insolvency, regulatory, and/or forensic accounting with respect to state court receivership proceedings, non-bankruptcy insolvency proceedings and/or non-judicial reorganizations, liquidations or termination of a business and its assets as well as the financial analysis of the viability of a business entity.

Degree: accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24-semester-hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to six (6) hours of credit in business law.

Combination of education and experience: At least four (4) years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. COVID-19 Vaccination:

To ensure compliance with an applicable preliminary nationwide injunction, which may be supplemented, modified, or vacated, depending on the course of ongoing litigation, the Federal Government will take no action to implement or enforce the COVID-19 vaccination requirement Safer Federal Workforce Task Force 2 pursuant to Executive Order 14043 on Requiring Coronavirus Disease 2019 Vaccination for Federal Employees. Therefore, to the extent a Federal job announcement includes the requirement that applicants must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 pursuant to Executive Order 14043, that requirement does not currently apply. You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
Position is on the GS pay scale, full-time and permanent, FPL of GS-14, and possible current annual salary range is: GS-13 ($94,373-$150,703); or, GS-14 ($115,521-$176,300). Years and type of experience will determine the appropriate grade level.
