MAJOR DUTIES: Manages the park museum collections. Coordinates documentation, preservation, protection, exhibition, and use of park collections whether housed in the park or at an offsite repository according to NPS guidelines.
Maintains liaison with the State Historic Preservation Office, Native Americans, and other traditionally associated groups, and other interested parties. Responsible for or makes significant contribution to the review of projects to assure protection of cultural resources and compliance with applicable federal laws such as the National Historic Preservation Act, Archeological Protection Act, Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act, and National Environmental Policy Act.
Based on results of inventories, in-depth studies, and monitoring, the incumbent, in consultation with the technical supervisor and others, develops and conducts scientifically and culturally credible preservation, mitigation, and restoration projects needed to maintain and/or restore resource integrity.
AREA INFORMATION- The Upper Delaware River is part of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System managed as a partnership river between the National Park Service, the adjoining states of Pennsylvania and New York, and the local municipalities. This Scenic and Recreational River flows below Hancock, New York and the vicinity of Sparrowbush, New York, a distance of approximately 75 miles. All services and community needs are available in Monticello, NY (about 22 miles) and Honesdale, PA (about 15 miles). Summers have temperatures ranging from 70-90 degrees F with some humidity, and winter temperatures average in the 20-30 degree range.
