Duties

Help
  • Plans, schedules, supervises, trains, and evaluates the performance of subordinate team members
  • Identifies developmental and training needs of subordinates
  • Assists software technicians in testing new applications and system programs.
  • Accountable for the proper dispatch of emergency forces.
  • Ensure the highest level of subordinate performance and customer service.
  • Coordinates work accomplishment, priorities, and procedures.
  • Ensure the most effective operation of the Combined Dispatch Operations Center (CDOC).
  • Operate automated data processing and communications equipment.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain eligibility at the Secret level using a Tier 3 background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and sustain state certification for operating the NCIC terminals and (DCI) Operator Certification.
  • Shift work is required, or a change in work shift may be necessary. Hours of work encompass fluctuating tours of duty to include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • A fully qualified typist can type at least 40 words per minute.
  • A pre-employment, as well as regular and recurring, drug screenings are required for this position. Employee will be required to sign DA Form 5019-R Condition of Employment for mandatory drug testing.
  • This position is "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency situations (natural or man-made disaster) you will be required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation with Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a two year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position requires the employee to wear a uniform and maintain a high standard of appearance and hygiene while on duty.
  • Employee will be required to train and certify through the state of Kansas on the KCIC system, and maintain certification.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) Determining the nature of emergency and non-emergency calls received, (2) Dispatching and assisting emergency vehicles with critical information pertaining to the emergency call, AND (3) Using a computer aided dispatch (CAD) system to enter pertinent information. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (You MUST upload a copy of your transcripts)

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. (You MUST upload a copy of your transcripts).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-04).
