This vacancy announcement is open to the public. This position is eligible for full-time remote telework. The selectee of this position may be assigned to an official duty station within or outside the Washington, DC metro area. Accordingly, pay will be set based on the locality area/official duty station assigned.
The Attorney Advisor position will join the Data Management Division at the Defender Services Office (DSO) to support its mission of ensuring the right to counsel. The Attorney Advisor will coordinate updates to legal policies and procedures, a critical function given changing data needs and challenges for DSO, FDOs, and panel attorneys under the Criminal Justice Act (CJA). DSO seeks to advance informed managerial decision making in connection with FDO staffing and panel attorney resource allocation. The Attorney Advisor will need data proficiency and will coordinate with data analysts in the process of inspecting, cleaning, transforming, and modeling information collected in the management of CJA resources.
The incumbent of this position will provide day-to-day oversight, coordination, and administration for various data management related processes within DSO. The incumbent will advise the Data Management Division on legal issues that affect FDO and panel data and thus work measurement policies. Effective technical and communication skills will be essential.

Applicants must possess a law degree (J.D.) from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA). Qualifying education must have been obtained from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education.
