These are career-conditional appointments subject to non-pay status. Two of the positions are located in Yosemite National Park Facilities Division. One position is located at the Cesar Chavez National Monument located in Keene, CA which is under the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
There is no substitution of education for experience for Wage Grade (WG) positions.
This announcement may be used to fill additional positions if identical vacancies occur within 90 days of the issue date of the referral certificate.
Please note: These are Career-Seasonal positions and subject to release and recall procedures. A permanent career-seasonal positions includes all the benefits of permanent employment, but does not provide employment on a full year-round basis. Selectees are guaranteed to work at least 6 months per year but not more than 50 weeks per year, with the work schedule to be determined upon appointment.
YOSEMITE: The typical season for one position is March to January with 2 months of non-pay/non-duty status at the beginning or end of January, but can be variable during these months due to project requirements or weather conditions. The typical season for one position is June to May with 2 weeks of non-pay/non-duty status at the beginning or end of May, but can be variable during these months due to project requirements or weather conditions.
Cesar Chavez National Monument: The typical season is from December to mid October with four weeks of non pay status from mid October to end of December, but can be variable during these months due to project requirements or weather conditions.

Physical Demands: Works from ladders, scaffolds and platforms and where surfaces to be coated, or the parts of systems worked on are hard to reach that require incumbent to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts, carries and sets up parts and equipment that weight up to 40 pounds.
Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and outside where dirt, spray, and fumes are present. Also required to work in inclement weather and/or wear protective equipment and clothing that are sometimes heavy and uncomfortable.

Yosemite: Sierra Nevada Mountains, the park covers 1,182 square miles of varied wilderness ecosystems, from river valleys to alpine meadows to lofty 13,000 foot high peaks. Yosemite Valley is located 208 miles from San Francisco, 81 miles from Merced, and 94 miles from Fresno. Shopping, medical, postal and laundry services are available in the park. Elevation at the Valley floor is approximately 4,000 feet and 2,200 feet in El Portal.
Cesar E. Chavez National Monument is located in Keene, California, at 2600 ft elevation in the Tehachapi Mountains that separate the Central Valley of California on the northwest, and the Mojave Desert on the southwest. The monument is managed by a small NPS staff that ranges seasonally from 3-5 people, in cooperation with the National Chavez Center and with staff support from Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. Park housing is not available, housing, shopping, medical and other services are available in Tehachapi (10-15 miles), and Bakersfield (25-30 miles).
