This is a Recent Graduates position in the Gateways Program. This program provides an entry-level developmental experience with the potential to lead to a career in the Federal Government after successfully completing two years under the program. This is a temporary position not-to-exceed 2 years. Upon completion, the selectee may be converted to a permanent excepted service position contingent upon the needs of the agency.
Responsibilities:
The incumbent functions as a data analyst on strategic workforce planning (SWP) programs. Applies experience and detailed knowledge applicable to strategic workforce planning principles. Typical assignments may include collecting and analyzing data/information; conducting research; applying policies and procedures; identifying problems; and working with higher level and lower level professionals in day-to-day operations. Interprets data, analyzes results using statistical techniques to assist in conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis to evaluate and optimize human capital resources in order to achieve Agency and organizational goals.
Provides support in developing and implementing data analyses, data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality to formulate workforce-planning recommendations and produce reports and presentations. Demonstrates some independence in planning time and using assigned resources to accomplish tasks or small projects.
Contacts are primarily internal to the organizational unit, major subdivision, or LOB/SO with a manager and other employees to share information, provide data and/or written analyses, and/or explain the statuses of assignments.
Supports SWP team in providing consultation services to various lines of business (LOB) on strategic workforce planning policies. Acquires data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems to analyze and interpret trends or patters in complex data sets. Works as a team member to "Filter" and "clean" data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct problems.
Established policies/procedures provide guidance for most assignments, but allow some discretion for employee to select the most appropriate approach(es). Typically receives guidance on selecting approaches from a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced professional.
Supports strategic workforce planning manager in the area of policy development, change management, and program evaluation. In addition, supports in the production and delivery of strategic planning briefings, presentations and conference materials. Ensures that accurate, concise and timely information is available to management.
Refers problems and work issues to a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced professional when guidelines are not available or applicable.
Work typically is reviewed frequently during assignments and at completion to ensure timeliness, policy compliance, and alignment with the requirements of projects and/or other work activities.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
To qualify for this position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the FV-F, FG/GS-5-9 levels.
