About the position: This position will be assigned to the Fam Camp on Davis-Monthan AFB, Tucson AZ.
Per Executive Order and DoD guidance, New DAF civilian employees must be fully vaccinated by their entry on duty (start) date or November 22, 2021, whichever is later. 1. The incumbent performs significant labor involved with grounds maintenance for the FamCamp and repair jobs. Operates riding lawn mowers and/or specially designed mowers that operate on slopes and require constant attention to working space and environment. Operates weed eaters and small bucket loaders (for moving rock and gravel). Uses manual and gas/electrical tools, i.e., tiller, chainsaw, hedge clippers, blower, axe, etc.
2. Accomplishes landscaping/groundskeeping tasks to ensure trees, shrubs and plants are watered, pruned and trimmed throughout each season. Debris, leaves, fallen limbs and trash containers are picked up/emptied throughout the camp grounds on a daily basis. Digs, grades and levels sites using dirt, gravel and stones. Digs and fills holes and plants small trees, shrubs and plants throughout the seasons. Ensures grass and weeds are cut down and/or sprayed and grounds remain attractive throughout the seasons. Determines and selects the most appropriate type of equipment to accomplish each phase of the work in the most productive and cost effective manner. Completes all aspects of special assignments involving several steps, phases or detailed procedures.
3. Investigates reported problems to ascertain cause and takes corrective action when possible. Refers problems not within capability to immediate supervisor for further action. Works independently with little or no supervision. Performs other related duties as assigned.
4. Performs custodial duties to ensure cleanliness of all restrooms, office, laundry; sweep, mop, wax floors. Scrub and disinfect toilets, sinks, showers. Clean and sanitize washers and dryers. Washes windows inside and out, stocks restrooms, ensures storage areas are stocked, clean and organized.
