This Merit Promotion position is open to Current Federal Employees and Former Federal Employees with permanent status or reinstatement eligibility. As a Security Officer, the incumbent will perform the following, but not limited to:
Serves as lead and manages security programs as they relate to acquisition, installation, inspection, and repair of security devices.
Develops, organizes, and directs all activities concerned with security and emergency management planning programs.
Briefs management on current security and management requirements which have an impact on agency operations (i.e., security programs and procedures, budget and program planning data, manpower planning, contracting activities, and all other security information programs).
Develops and implements plans and programs for short- and long-term security programs and projects in conjunction with other personnel.
Reviews and evaluates methods, procedures and safeguards employed for the protection of agency assets to ensure the agency is compliant and in accordance with the national interest of the US Government.

Experience for GS-0080-12: You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal Service or comparable pay band system. For this position Specialized experience is defined as as observing physical security or similar programs and equipment for facilities; planning and developing various security and emergency preparedness program planning; developing policies and leading projects as it relates to security; and monitoring and evaluating organizational performance measurements through analysis and research.
Experience for GS-0080-13: You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal Service or comparable pay band system. For this position Specialized experience is defined as overseeing physical security or similar programs and equipment for facilities; developing and implementing various security and emergency preparedness programs; developing policies and leading projects as it relates to security and emergency preparedness; and monitoring and evaluating organizational performance measurements through reports and briefings.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
