This position is designated as Moderate Risk and requires a background investigation. Although not required, candidates have generally finished law school and have a J.D. and are pending admission to a State bar. Candidates may be completing their third year of law school and will obtain a J.D. degree in Spring 2022.
In addition, the following specialized training or experience is desired: Environmental law or public service as shown through academic courses, internships or other experience.

About ORC, Region 5: We seek applicants for a 2-year position beginning in August 2022 as an Honors Attorney. The program is designed for 2022 law school graduates (Law Clerk announcement #CI-R5-OT-2022-0011) and licensed recent graduates (Attorney Advisor announcement #CI-R5-OT-2021-0033). We encourage applicants with excellent academic credentials, strong research/writing/verbal skills and demonstrated interest in environmental law/public service. Hires will handle challenging cases that include enforcement/counseling work and receive training/mentoring from experienced colleagues. R5 ORC is the legal advisor to the Regional Administrator and provides legal opinions, legal counsel and litigation support to all regional program divisions. ORC attorneys consult and coordinate with attorneys in OGC, OECA and other ORCs to ensure consistency in the legal position being taken across the Agency.
