WHAT DOES A REVENUE OFFICER DO? As a Revenue Officer you will serve as a civil enforcement officer, and perform collection related activities within the established laws, rules and regulations. The role of the Revenue Officer varies depending on the organization for which you are hired. For Field Collections, cases are primarily worked in the field. As a Revenue Officer you will be responsible for collecting delinquent accounts, secure delinquent tax returns, and/or performing a technical review of the collection activities to determine compliance. On the other hand, the Technical Reviewer is responsible for evaluating closed cases to determine if the conclusions reached are consistent with the tax laws, procedures and policy requirements. Specialized experience for this position includes: Demonstrated knowledge and experience of business organization and commercial practices; knowledge of investigative techniques and methods, and the ability to apply such techniques to the analysis of business and financial matters; practical knowledge of business law, including laws governing fraudulent transfers, secured and unsecured debts, negotiable instruments, business corporations, and survivorship rights and titling instruments; knowledge of delinquent loan collection processes and techniques; working knowledge of accounting principles and practices; knowledge of the Internal Revenue Code (IRC) and related Federal tax regulations and procedure; knowledge of bankruptcy and lien law.
