Duties

Help
  • Plans, directs, and coordinates the work of subordinate supervisors engaged in carrying out investigative and enforcement functions of the agency.
  • Serves as a legal expert on matters concerning draft legislation, Congressional actions, legality of legislative proposals, and coordinates the legal review of legislative activities with appropriate Agency staff and management.
  • Directs and oversees various program operations that include professional staff (i.e. attorneys) and other technical and administrative staff.
  • Coordinates, monitors, and provides overall supervision of the investigation of all charges filed.
  • Oversees the Charge Receipt/Technical Information Unit which provides administrative and technical support to the enforcement units for the service of notices, conduct of counseling, pre-charge interviewing and receipt of inquiries.
  • Supervisory responsibility for the Enforcement Units which plan and conduct detailed and comprehensive investigations of charges of employment discrimination from planning through investigation to reporting of results and analysis of findings.
  • Supervisory responsibility for the Systemic function which identifies and conducts in-depth investigations of pattern and practice employment discrimination.

Qualifications

For the GS-15:You must have earned a professional law degree (J.D. or LL.B.) from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association, be an active member of the BAR, and have four (4) years of professional legal experience with at least one year being equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal service.

Professional legal education above the first professional law degree may be substituted for experience required as follows:(a) The second professional law degree (LL.M) may be substituted for one year of experience (b) The third law degree (J.S.D) may be substituted for one year of experience beyond the LL.M.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
