The DOJ OIG is seeking an experienced, highly motivated individual with a record of strong performance to lead the Evaluation and Inspections Division (E&I). The Assistant Inspector General for the E&I Division is a member of the senior staff of the DOJ OIG. The ideal candidate will possess significant, proven program evaluation, inspection, or audit experience. This position is located in the Evaluation and Inspections Division Immediate Office located in Washington, DC.

The Assistant Inspector General (AIG) for E&I is responsible for developing and directing a broad program of evaluations and inspections of internal and external activities of the Department of Justice. Some such reviews are undertaken in response to requests by DOJ leadership or congressional oversight committees. The work results in recommendations to DOJ leadership to improve operations. The AIG is responsible for executive leadership of the division, managing a diverse workforce, and coordinating evaluation and inspection matters with internal and external organizations. The AIG directs and manages the progress of evaluations and inspections of sensitive DOJ programs that have an impact on national programs and policies. The AIG is a member of the Inspector General's (IG) senior staff, and is the OIG's expert on all matters related to program evaluation activities.
The AIG ensures that reports of evaluation and inspections are completed in a timely manner; are thorough and complete; properly, clearly and objectively report OIG findings; include appropriate recommendations to DOJ and relevant components, and OIG recommendations receive attention and implementation.
The AIG should possess superior interpersonal and communication skills to ensure effective leadership of the division's staff and productivity of the division. The AIG should have outstanding writing and editing abilities to ensure high quality, accurate evaluation and inspection reviews and reports that reflect appropriate substance. The work products of the division are varied and the AIG should ensure that reports are tailored to the assignment and subject matter, and that they comport with generally accepted quality standards for inspections and evaluations, including documentation requirements.
In addition to interactions within the OIG, the AIG is expected to interact with and work effectively with counterparts at DOJ components, the Council of Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency, and other federal OIGs.

Veteran's Preference does not apply to the SES.
