About the Position:
This position is with the United States Army Installation Management Command located at the United States Army Garrison, Directorate of Emergency Services, Fort Hunter Liggett, CA. This position performs law enforcement and security functions at Fort Hunter-Liggett, California. Employees may be recalled to duty based on crisis situations and must keep personal contact information up to date.
Fort Hunter-Liggett is located on the Central Coast of California between Los Angeles and San Francisco. The nearest towns to Ft Hunter Liggett are King City 26 miles north and Paso Robles 50 miles south. Ft Hunter Liggett is located in a rural area so a vehicle is a must; car and van pools are available at select locations.

Duties

Help

  • Perform a broad range of law enforcement, investigation, crime prevention, traffic control, and community policing.
  • Respond to volatile situations such as terrorist attacks, hostage situations, and armed robbery.
  • Investigate traffic accidents to include the collection of technical data and interview subjects with knowledge of the accident or incident.
  • Conduct traffic and security patrols to enforce federal, state, Department of Defense, Department of the Army and local regulations.
  • Respond to and investigate offences against persons and property.
  • Question and apprehend suspects utilizing the appropriate level of authorized force.
  • Serve as desk sergeant performing operational and administrative duties.
  • Write incident and activity reports and arrests suspects.
  • Direct, escort, and protect VIPs and visitors.

Other Requirements:

  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Appointment is subject to the completion of a favorable suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a background investigation.

  • The conditions of employment identified in AR 190-56;"The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program," must be met to be appointed and retained within this position. Prior to appointment you must agree in writing to adhere to the conditions of employment as identified in AR 190-56.
  • This position is subject to the Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 which makes it a felony for anyone who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence to ship, transport, possess, or receive firearms or ammunition.
  • This position requires the incumbent to carry a firearm, qualify with their assigned weapon and remain proficient in the use of their assigned weapon.
  • In accordance with Executive Order 12564 for a Drug-Free Federal Workplace, this position requires applicants to pass a drug test prior to employment and be subject to random drug testing for the duration of employment.
    This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a valid California state driver's license.
    This position requires the incumbent to be certified in the use of radar detection equipment and alcohol detection equipment.
  • This position requires the incumbent to work days, nights, and weekends along with rotating shifts. Rotating shifts are not on a regular or recurring basis, but as needed.
  • This position requires an initial and periodic medical examination to assess your ability to take the Physical Ability Test and to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • This position requires you to obtain and maintain certification in CPR and first aid.
  • This position requires newly hired DACP officers graduate from the U.S. Army Civilians Police Academy as explained IAW AR 190-56, Chapter 4-2.
  • This position requires the selectee to qualify annually for the Individual Reliability Program (IRP) as explained in IAW 190-56, Chapter 3.
  • This position requires that the selectee must meet all of the annual training requirements of the U.S. Army Military Police School (USAMPS).

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes using the knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property. Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer, in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills. Duties may include; arresting and mirandizing suspects, preserving evidence, conducting investigations of crimes and suspected criminal activities, writing accident reports, conducting vehicle and foot patrols, responding to calls for police assistance and emergency help, conducting field drug and alcohol testing of suspected offenders, operating radar speed detection devices, enforcing hunting, trapping and fishing regulations, directing individuals away from accidents, escorting vehicles carrying valuable and/or highly sensitive items, directing traffic, controlling access to restricted areas by verifying credentials and conducting vehicle searches.. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
