About the position: This position is assigned to the Outdoor Rec. facility of the 6th Force Support Squadron Community Flight, MacDill AFB, FL.

The incumbent perform basic maintenance and heavy labor duties involved with the maintenance or buildings. upkeep of grounds and special projects within the squadron. Projects could consist of construction, all tile work, masonry, special functions support and repair or structures within the Outdoor Recreation Complex which consists of recreations grounds, beach, camp-sites and marina. Required to operate a government vehicle. Uses power and hand tools that arc related to the task being performed. May be required to perform minor repair and maintenance on related equipment. Grounds maintenance; operates heavy, complex riding lawn mowers and similar types of specialized mowing equipment (e.g., multiple and independently-controlled cutting decks, single functions components) and/or specially designed riding mowers that operate on slopes and require constant attention to working space and environment. Operates various controls and levers to maneuver equipment and lift, lower, adjust, engage, and disengage components or attached devices when working around, slopes, curbs, rocks and other visible obstacles. Performs duties involved in maintenance of grounds such as edging, cleaning, trimming bushes/trees. Building maintenance; performs basic carpentry and repair on structures. Prepares surfaces for painting, paints, replaces light switches, outlets, ceiling fans, and basic plumbing repairs or replacement of plumbing fixtures to include sprinkler systems. Special projects; projects may include set up and tear down of canopies. bleachers, portable stage and other equipment for air show, special base functions, or catered functions. Construction; Performs alteration and repair projects on buildings or other structures. Projects may include carpentry, masonry, heavy labor work related to projects such as digging, cement work, lifting and carrying heavy objects, tile work. Determines and selects the most appropriate type of equipment to accomplish each phase of the work in the most productive and cost-effective manner. Completes all aspects of assignments involving several steps, phases or detailed procedures using knowledge of the task at hand
