This Merit Promotion position is open to Current Smithsonian Employees with permanent status or reinstatement eligibility. Individuals who are eligible for a special appointing authority may also apply such as Individuals with Disabilities (Schedule A), former Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, and Vista volunteers; certain Military Spouses, or individuals eligible under various programs for Veterans (VRA, VEOA, 30% disabled).
Makes domestic and foreign travel arrangements , arranges site meetings for individuals, large groups and reviews and audits travel authorizations and vouchers.
Provides technical support for the purchase of supplies, materials and services determining best use of funds and most efficient procurement method (requisition, purchase order or purchase card). Enters requisitions and purchase orders into Smithsonian financial systems according to SI policies and procedures.
Advises and coordinates personnel actions for the Administrative Support Group, OPMB.

The Smithsonian Institution has a mandate requiring all employees (federal and trust), affiliated staff (including volunteers, interns, and fellows), and the contractors who work with us to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 regardless of the employee’s duty location or work arrangement (e.g., onsite, telework, remote work, etc.), subject to such exceptions as required by law. Experience: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 level in the Federal service or comparable pay band system related to the work of this position. For this position specialized experience 1) making travel arrangements for both domestic and foreign travels; 2) reviewing travel authorizations and vouchers for accuracy and compliance with SI and FTR regulations; 3) assisting with creation of job requisitions; entering personnel actions in HRMS and assisting with performance reviews; 4) experience working with multiple types of funding; reconciling funds in Excel or other tracking software and 5) compiling complete procurement packages, entering purchase orders and receipts into ERP, pcard.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Part-time and/or unpaid experience related to this position will be considered to determine the total number of years and months of experience. Be sure to note the number of paid or unpaid hours worked each week.
Or Education: Three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree related to the position may be substituted to meet the experience requirements.
