This is a full-time academic tenure-track position with an initial term appointment in the excepted service starting on or about June 1, 2022 and not to exceed 3 years. Term appointments may be extended beyond the initial term. Faculty who attain the academic rank of Associate Professor or Professor may have the opportunity to non-competitively receive a permanent appointment in the excepted service. As a term employee you will be eligible for medical insurance, life insurance, retirement, dental and vision. You will be eligible to earn annual leave and sick leave.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must (a) hold a bachelor's degree that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject matter field appropriate to the position, OR (b) possess a combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above.
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR/KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Applicants will be evaluated on the following factors: 1) Academic accomplishment (PhD in Chemistry highly preferred);; 2) Demonstrated competency in areas that support Chemistry and upper division Chemistry curriculum 3) Ability to develop a funded research program; 4) Experience mentoring and teaching undergraduate students; and 5) Ability to interact and engage with academic, industrial or government organizations.
Only degrees from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education are acceptable to meet positive education requirements or to substitute education for experience.
