    This position serves as the Manager of the Desert Southwest Customer-Service Region (DSW) of the Western Area Power Administration (WAPA). In this capacity, the incumbent directs the implementation of all operational and support programs delegated to DSW.

    As the Desert Southwest Regional Manager you will:

    • Serve as Regional Manager of the Desert Southwest Region, and is a key member of the Western Area Power Administration senior leadership team. The incumbent directs organizational activities, frames strategic plans based on broad organizational assessments and evaluations of long-term organizational objectives. He or she determines the financial and personnel resources needed to achieve mission objectives and support mission operations; identifies the need for major organizational improvements and develops the requisite plans and directs implementing actions. The incumbent oversees and directs the internal organization, staffing, policies, and personnel authorities required to carry out the responsibilities of the organization, including the recruitment of senior managers and technical experts necessary to ensure the success of the programs.

      Lead the Region in carrying out WAPA 's mission in a quality-conscious work environment that is sensitive to the needs, interests, and concerns of customers and stakeholders. Assures that all programs, functions, and activities are accomplished in a cost-effective manner.

      Participate as a member of WAPA 's senior management team in (1) developing WAPA 's overall long-range direction, goals, and strategies; (2) developing and leading high performing teams which assure quality, customer-focused service; (3) employing excellent business principles and safe, effective, and efficient operating practices; and (4) fostering commitment to good power system stewardship and organizational citizenship in accomplishing organizational goals.
