This position is located in the Army National Guard. The incumbent is responsible for the receipt, storage, issuing, planning, budgeting, and preparation of vendor products bids of subsistence supplies. Serves as Subsistence Officer at training site, in support of winter, summer annual, and weekend raining.
- Compiles necessary data for transmittal of requisitions for subsistence. Develops the installation winter and summer Annual Training menus. Writes directives on Site Subsistence operation. Serves as a member of the Installation Menu Board; recommends changes to menus, considering the nutritional value and acceptability of the menu. Directs the computation of the site Basic Daily Food Allowance, ensuring that current prices are used in the computation as cited in applicable price lists and establishes current prices for local purchase items in accordance with existing regulations.
- Formulates budget requirements for the Site Subsistence operation. Directs the preparation of all subsistence reports and maintenance of accountable records, to include receipts, issues, and stock record accounts. Reviews applicable regulations and directives to ensure that accounting procedures are correct. Coordinates with higher headquarters on matters involving the menu, strength, augmentations and substitution of rations. Schedules and conducts inventories of the subsistence accounts.
- Designs warehouse planograms for storing subsistence considering proper storage techniques. Liaisons with depots on subsistence to cut back and/or increase in requisitions due to strength fluctuations. Initiates correspondence to prospective bidders for local purchase items to establish a current buyer list. Arranges for veterinary inspections of prospective civilian bidder establishments.
- Responsible for the veterinary inspection program for shipments received. Conducts daily sanitary inspections of all subsistence items, commencing with initial shipment and continuing until final excesses are disposed.
- Determines requirements for equipment and material used in commissary operations. Programs for seasonal site contract employees working in the Subsistence operations. Responsible for the organization and operation of the pre-Camp mess school for elements of
the training command.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience, education, or training in a variety of operations or situations concerned with substance or content of supply actions, requiring ability to decide course of action to take, considering the circumstances or conditions encountered. Experience using computer and automation systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 9 months experience, education, or training which demonstrates knowledge of governing supply regulations, policies, procedures, and instructions applicable to the specific assignment. Experience conducting searches for required information; reconstruct records for routine supply transactions; and/or provide supply operations support for activities involving specialized or unique supplies, equipment, and parts. Experience performing routine aspects of supply specialist work based on practical knowledge of standard procedures, where assignments include individual case problems related to a limited segment in one of the major areas of supply management.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of months/years.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
