    EMERGENCY ASSIGNMENT: Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.

    In this position you will be embedded with the State of Rhode Island and will assume the role of State Liaison Officer (SLO) during State EOC activations and incidents response activities. As a Region I FEMA Integration Team Leader typical assignments include:

    • Providing a continuous and more coordinated FEMA presence in partner organizations before, during, and after disasters to enhance shared readiness
    • Increasing the amount and quality of targeted state technical assistance to build capacity, addressing gaps, barriers, and delays in a more personal manner
    • Providing customers with increased access to FEMA personnel and the technical assistance they provide to help the Agency build a national emergency management team;
    • Enhancing the customer experience, build more resilient communities, and ensure more effective response and recovery operations when a disaster strikes.

    Please note that the office hours for this position are set at 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Flexible or Compressed Work Schedules are not approved for this position.
