    Responsibilities

    The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is the principal advisor to the Under Secretary and Director on the application of information technology (IT) to support and improve the Agency’s business processes.  CIO directs the development, implementation, maintenance, enhancement, and operation of the USPTO automated information systems and the development of supporting strategic and operational plans; manages the USPTO computer facilities, equipment, and telecommunications network; manages development, maintenance, and dissemination of patent and trademark information to the public.

    The Office of Information Management Services (OIMS) delivers quality information products and services to meet USPTO, public, and intellectual property community needs and ensures the quality and integrity of the intellectual property data.  OIMS provides access to collections of patents, trademarks, and related information through multiple nodes, and promotes dissemination of information to the public on the use of patent and trademark information systems.  OIMS provides support across the USPTO with software, hardware, network, desktop, and web services that support access to the USPTO’s IT assets and similarly provides agency-wide support for information collection.

    As the IT Specialist selected for this position will be responsible for: 

    • Serving as a technical advisor for IT product ownership projects.

    • Monitoring the progress of product development, as well as plan for product release.

    • Supporting the management and execution of agile projects and activities.

    • Developing and implements action plans for building and sustaining demand for a product.
    • Collaborating on the product marketing to obtain information useful in developing products that meet and exceed the requirements of customers. 

    • Ensuring appropriate product-related training and documentation are developed and made available to customers.
