    This position serves as the Supervisory Park Ranger (I), GS-0025-12, Deputy Chief for the Division of Interpretation, Education and Visitor Services for Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park.

    Manages the interpretive and educational field operations for the division including supervision of three GS-11 Supervisory Park Rangers (one at Arches, and two at Canyonlands), and two GS-9 Education Specialists for the Canyon Country Outdoor Education Program (CCOE). Prepares, submits, and tracks status of all recruitment paperwork for vacancy announcements related to these field operations. Provides technical support to field supervisors on a variety of supervisory, interpretive, visitor services, and educational topics. Certifies payroll for employees working in these field operations. Carries out supervisory duties at least 40% of the time.

    Provides visitor information, orientation, and interpretation at park visitor centers and in the field. Assists on CCOE field trips and in classrooms as needed. Manages special interpretive events and coordinates special requests, interviews, and tours. Manages field statistics and coordinates, prepares, and submits the annual SIR (Servicewide Interpretive Report).

    Participates in the budget process by developing cost estimates required for both short- and long-range interpretive program goals. Identifies non-base and/or non-government funding sources for interpretive products and services and prepares project requests for submission through the Project Management Information System (PMIS). Coordinates CNHA aid requests from field operations and submits to the Chief of Interpretation, Education and Visitor Services for completion.

    Serves as division representative on a variety of interdivisional park committees and work groups, and as park representative on community work groups and with official park partners.
