This position is located in the State Joint Forces Headquarters, G-3 Directorate, Military Support Branch. Serves as the Director of Military Support responsible for managing the preparation and maintenance of contingency plans for natural disasters, Military Support for Civil Disturbance (MACDIS), Homeland Defense/Homeland Security to include Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD), military support to civil defense, National Security Special Events (NSSE), continuation of vital public services and for alert of NG forces for homeland security/defense and related contingency missions. The incumbent is also responsible for the state security programs including but not limited to classified information control, physical security, terrorism counteraction, communications security, intelligence security, operational employment of military resources, operation of state Military Joint Emergency Operations Center (MJEOC) and emergency communications systems, drug eradiation/interdiction program, emergency regional reporting system.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Must have at least 36 months experience, education or training in program or managerial experience in a type of work or a combination of functions directly related to the position to be filled or in comparable work or functions. Experience developing and recommending policy; organizing and carrying out specific programs, evaluating and recommending changes in methods of operations. Experience in supervisory, staff or technical work which included study, analysis or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of managerial or administrative policies, practices and procedures. Experience preparing written communications and oral presentations.
SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE:
Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.

1. Ability to direct the work of a variety of federal and state personnel involved in the preparation and maintenance of contingency plans for natural disasters, MACDIS, Homeland Defense/Homeland Security missions, and state security programs.
2. Knowledge in establishing criteria, formulating projects, assessing program effectiveness and investigating a variety of unusual conditions, problems and questions which affect the safety of the citizenry, environment, and the general well being of the community.
3. Knowledge of state programs, policies, concepts and plans pertaining to Deputy Chief of Staff of Operations Branch.
4. Knowledge of program management work, while coordinating, integrating, or consolidating administrative or technical work that requires information management, administrative support, and enlisted technician and military matters.
5. Ability to justify, defend, coordinate, and influence individuals in regards to highly significant programs issues in the areas of Military Support to Civilian Authorities, and Homeland Defense/Security issues.
6. Ability to communicate frequently with high ranking officials of the Joint Force Headquarters staff and commanders, Department of Defense, Department of Justice, Department of Homeland Defense, National Guard Bureau, State Department, International Ministries of Defense, state and Federal congressional representatives, the governor, state agency heads, county and local officials and others from outside the state at national and international levels in both highly unstructured and structured settings.
