    NOAA utilizes Direct Hire Authority to fill vacancies in a variety of science, technology, engineering & math (STEM) occupations. This vacancy is a REPOSITORY of applications. Applications MAY BE periodically referred to hiring managers both during the open period and after the closing date. May be used to fill positions in other equivalent pay systems.

    Responsibilities

    These positions will be filled in NOAA locations throughout the United States.  When a position is requested to be filled under the Direct Hire Authority, a list of applicants may be provided to management for review and possible selection.

    NOAA employees have responsibilities that include: safeguarding the public; protecting natural resources and the environment; protecting and preserving our living marine resources; and strengthening the economy. Agency employees perform these functions through: standards-setting and rule making, technical reviews and studies; conducting public hearings; issuance of authorizations, permits, and licenses; inspection, investigation, and enforcement; evaluation of operating experience; and confirmatory research.

    The ideal candidate for these positions will demonstrate:
    1) Knowledge of the applicable requirements, policies, practices, and programs applicable to fishery management;
    2) Ability to plan, direct, coordinate, and manage complex, highly technical projects;
    3) Ability to present technical information both orally and in writing; and
    4) Ability to develop and implement successful approaches to problem solving and conflict resolution.

    Duties and responsibilities vary and may increase according to the grade level.

    Promotion Potential

    04 - Positions may be filled at the ZP-3 or ZP-4. Promotion potential will be based on the position to which appointed. Salaries will vary based on the final duty station and locality area of the position.
