About the position:
This position will be assigned to the 6th FSS Child Development Center #3.
Physical Effort: Light to moderate physical effort in lifting up to 45 pounds or in pushing carts. Constant standing and walking.
Working Conditions: Works inside warm and noisy kitchen. Subject to minor cuts, bruises, and burns. Exposed to steam, fumes, odors and extreme temperatures in kitchen and walk-in refrigerator. Danger of slipping on floors.
Assists Cook in preparing a variety of simple meals for children in the Child Development Center, in compliance with USDA, DoD, and NAEYC standards for proper health and nutrition of children. Assists Cook in basic food preparation, by sorting, washing, peeling, and cutting fresh fruit and vegetables, and washing and cutting meat products. Serves food to classrooms in a manner that supports family style dining, with appropriate portions, proper eating material and serving utensils. Performs a variety of tasks having several steps or a sequence of tasks that requires attention to work operations in a kitchen following established procedures. Returns dishes and food to the kitchen area. Operates, breaks down, and cleans all equipment assigned to the area for food preparation. Cleans kitchen equipment such as work tables, sinks, and refrigerators. Scrapes, soaks, scours, and scrubs heavy cooking utensils. Separates food waste and trash from dishes, glasses, and silverware. Sweeps and mops kitchen floors. Cleans exterior of hood, windows, and walls. Cleans and sanitizes trash cans, disposes of trash. Put away and stores food from delivery trucks using FIFO and move heavy garbage cans.
