Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Branch Lead of Physical Science and Landscape Ecology and in collaboration with a group of other hydrologists, geologists, and other natural resource specialists, the incumbent is responsible for the development, coordination, and implementation of management plans, policies, and programs to protect, inventory, maintain, monitor, and manage air, water, soundscapes, contaminants, and other environmental resources in Yosemite National Park.
The position also serves as a key figure in understanding the effects of climate change which will involve coordinating with outside researchers and other divisions to assist in developing resilience planning, analysis, and conducting research to inform climate adaptation. In addition, the position will oversee the implementation of a variety of projects to investigate environmental contaminants to assess natural resource conditions and ensure safety of visitors and park resources. The incumbent will collect and direct the collection of data to conduct analyses of field samples, meteorological station data, remote sensing data, and other forms of data to prepare briefings, reports, and publications to inform park management.
Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.
