    Responsibilities

    The Associate Director for Patient Care Services (ADPCS) is the top executive within nursing and a key member of the senior executive leadership team of the organization, involved in strategic planning, organizational assessment, and program development. The ADPCS has the authority and responsibility for establishing standards of nursing practice and ensuring the continuous and timely availability of quality nursing services. In addition, the ADPCS is a member of all medical center-level Councils and Committees that govern and influence the operations of the medical center, including Senior Executive Council, Medical Executive Services Committee, Position Management Committee, and the Leadership Quality Council as well as assisting in strategic planning within the VISN 12 Network and nationally. Responsibilities of the position include:

    • Serves as the designated the Nurse Executive for this facility and its associated community-based outpatient clinics.
    • Possesses full responsibility for the direction, control, coordination, operation and evaluation of programs and units within the Rehabilitation, Extended and Community Care Division, the Acute Medical/Surgical Nursing Division, the Sterile Processing Se1vices Division, Nutrition and Food Services Division, the Nursing Education and Research Depa1tment, the Nursing Excellence Program, and Social Work.
    • Provides final authority and approval over nursing job descriptions, nursing care policies and procedures; nursing standards of patient care, treatment, and services; standards of nursing practice, nurse staffing plans, and standards in order to measure, assess, and improve patient outcome.
    • Substantial involvement in multi-site, regional, and/or national professional and health related issues.
    • Establishes a competency process is in place to evaluate individual practice, as well as a fair and equitable review process for annual performance ratings.
    • Contributes to Medical Center policy development, planning, decision making, resource management, and evaluation that affect the delivery of health care services to patients.
    • Participates with leaders from Executive Leadership Team, medical staff, and clinical and administrative areas in strategic planning and decision-making processes.
    • Directs the development of medical center wide patient care, policies, and procedures that describe how the nursing care of individual patients and patient populations are assessed, implemented and evaluated.

    Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm or as agreed upon with the possibility of extended hours and weekends.
    NOTE: Candidates must be willing to work weekends, irregular work hours and extended hours.
