The primary purpose of this position is to serve as chief of the function and as such, is responsible for all navigational support provided by the squadron.
(1) Performs supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
(2) Develops and monitors the Squadron's navigation ground and flight training program.
(3) As required, serves as standardization/evaluation flight examiner.
(4) As required, flies as mission-ready rated navigator in unit aircraft.
(5) Ensures that complete navigation packets (DD 1801 flight plans, navigator flight plans, charts, forms, fuel plan, and air crew flimsy) are developed, available, and distributed.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:
Open to Air Force, AF Reserves, and Air Nat'l Guard military mbrs and prior service members eligible to join the WY Air Nat'l Guard.
Must become a military member of the Wyoming Air Nat'l Guard in the required grade before appt.
Must submit vMPF Rip/Data Verification Rip with application or DD-214 if prior service.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
Technicians are paid through Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer (DD/EFT).
Military Technicians are ineligible for military enlistment, retention, and student loan repayment bonuses.
Acceptance of a Technician position will terminate these military incentives.
Acceptance of a permanent or indefinite position will cause termination from the Selected Reserve Incentive Program (SRIP) and TRICARE Reserve Select (TRS).
Recruitment/Relocation Incentive MAY BE authorized, if eligible. Subject to funding and TAG approval.
PCS is not authorized in lieu of incentives.
Military Technicians in the excepted service will wear the appropriate uniform while performing as a Technician.
Veteran's preference does not apply to National Guard Technician positions in accordance with Title 32 USC 709(f).
Indefinite employees may be terminated or displaced at management's discretion with a 30-day written notice.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
1. Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
2. Work will require access to classified information. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate Top Secret or Secret security clearance.
3. May require incumbent to perform Functional Check Flights to determine airworthiness of UE aircraft.
4. The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
5. Qualifications for this position require the Navigator/CSO to have graduated from USAF or USN Undergraduate Flying Training (UFT).
6 Incumbents are required to maintain the same medical standards as USAF military navigators / Combat system Operators.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
GS-11: Must possess at least 36 months experience, education or training that has required you to obtain information on type of mission, weather and intelligence data, and special instructions; experience preparing navigation flight plans; experience that provided a knowledge of proper readings and operations of navigational systems. Experience that shows your ability to test and inspect the operation of compasses, navigation systems, or radio and radar equipment; experience utilizing various navigational methods and aids to accomplish flying missions. Experience computing the effect of various factors during flight to establish present course and project balance of course and ability to train, evaluate and certify proficiency and competency of lower graded personnel AND you must have completed the necessary hours required for your current airframe. (ex. 1000 hours total navigation time which includes 200 hours' time in the C-130).
GS-12: In addition to GS-11 experience listed above, must possess certification as a qualified Navigator Instructor and possess AFSC 12M3 Mobility Combat Systems Officer, Suffix B (C-130H), and Prefix K (Instructor) (e.g. K12M3B).
GS-12 duties require the instructor to instruct programs for navigators to include training in the following duties: determining best route to fly based on established routes, enroute weather conditions, and duration of flight; planning flight to arrive on schedule and avoid adverse weather; using navigational instruments such as drift meter, sextant, radio compass, and loran set; testing and inspecting navigational instruments and making necessary adjustments; maintaining the flight log and providing aircraft position reports; and advising pilot of alternate landing area.
GS-13: Must have GS-12 experience as listed above plus certification as a qualified Navigator Instructor (AFSC K12M3B)
NOTE: Specialized Experience will be used to determine qualifications for the announced position. Applicants must provide from (e.g. 02/2015 - 03/2017 or Feb 2017 - Mar - 2017) dates and hours worked per week with description of your specialized experience on the resume.
