The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
As an AUDITOR, you will:
- Study pertinent laws, legislative history, regulations, contracts, and management controls to ascertain the purpose, scope, and objectives of the organization or function; the manner in which the organization or function is conducted and financed; and the nature and extent of management authority and responsibility for the organization or function.
- Examine and test financial records and management controls to determine the degree of efficiency, economy, and effectiveness with which the activities audited discharge their financial responsibilities, and/or to determine that the financial records have been maintained in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Prepare and present reports to the management level having the authority and responsibility to take action on the audit findings. The auditor identifies noncompliance with regulations, inefficient or ineffectual operations, and describes improper practices and individual transactions.
Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position. 6-10 nights per month.
