    Summary

    This is an interdisciplinary position in the Quality Management Department at the Hudson Valley Health Care System (HVHCS). The incumbent of this position conducts a wide range of statistical studies and leads facility-wide projects, involving a mix of analytic and/or operations research problem-solving skills. The work involved is diverse and impacts clinical, administrative, quality improvement, and research outcomes.

    Responsibilities

    Collaborates with all facility clinical and administrative leadership committees (including but not limited to the areas of System Redesign, Quality Management, performance improvement, and hospital operations) supporting in the analysis and reporting needs to ensure that the mission of the facility is achieved and maintained
    Consults with VISN & HVHCS staff to initiate, develop, and execute projects in support of the Data Warehouse and other data analysis needs
    Ensures HVHCS and VHAHCS reports are validated, accurate, and updated on a daily recurring basis, and provides HVHCS and VHAHCS leadership, subject matter experts, and data analysts with support through online video demonstrations and training sessions; effectively communicates, collaborates, and receives suggestions for improvements from HVHCS and VHAHCS subject matter experts to improve web application tools and reports
    Responsible for assessing organizational data and statistical analysis needs, and leads the design, planning, and manages execution of statistical studies for the HVHCS
    Plans and executes statistical studies; consults, evaluates, and analyzes all aspects of statistical application; develops statistical methodologies to analyze data; and applies statistical theories, principles, and techniques
    Develops complex statistical models, utilizing advanced machine learning algorithms and time-series forecasting to bring insight to various healthcare related problems
    Proficient at integrating and preparing large, varied datasets, architecting specialized databases and computing environments, and communicating results
    Will lead/oversee the design, planning, and execution of statistical studies; consult, evaluate, and analyze all aspects of statistical application; develop statistical methodologies to analyze data; and apply statistical theories, principles, and techniques
    Provide subject-matter expertise and thought leadership on machine learning and predictive analytics techniques; conduct advanced statistical analyses, such as deep neural networks, multivariate and simple linear regression, probability functions and population/sample distributions, random sampling, measures of central tendency, analysis of variance (ANOVA), time-series analysis and forecasting, geospacial data analysis, multiclass and binary classification models, sentiment analysis, natural language processing (NLP), and decision tree algorithms
    Programs statistical models into production level web applications to identify patterns and outliers as tools for management decision support that impact HVHCS' full continuum of care
    Analyzes findings, evaluates the statistical limitations of available data, specifies the range of logically possible explanations of findings, discovers the meaning of facts, and translates technical statistical information into language understandable by the public and communicates findings to stakeholders verbally and written
    Develops and manages custom clinical decision support system (CDSS) web applications to provide HVHCS and national Veterans Health Administration Health Care Systems' (VHAHCS) with the results of advanced preventive care algorithms that assist in identifying and providing timely and effective primary, specialty, and inpatient care
    Utilizes the latest and most advanced modern web technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX) to develop modern web applications with intuitive user-friendly interfaces, and builds data connections to supply front-end web interfaces with the results of advanced data analyses that are automated using Python or R programming for statistical computing and SQL programs stored in relational databases and comma-separated values (CSV) files
    Build, lead, and provide direction supervision of a team of data analysts and clinical application coordinators to support programmatic goals and facility performance improvement and data analytics initiatives
    Ensures all assigned tasks are completed timely, good working relationships among team members and with management are maintained, and team priorities, goals, needs, and achievements are coordinated with management.
    Identifies developmental and training needs of employees, providing or arranging for needed development and training.
    Resourceful in improving procedures to increase the quality of work directed
    Provides direct analytical support to the leadership of the HVHCS, as well as providing data analytic support to other VISN 2 Medical Centers and VHA facilities
    Conducts a wide range of statistical studies and leads facility-wide projects, involving a mix of analytic and/or operations research problem-solving skills.

    Work Schedule: M-F 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
