    This position is located in Smithsonian Institution’s Office of Smithsonian Facilities (SF), Office of Facilities Management and Reliability (OFMR).  The incumbent for this position serves under the general supervision of the Fleet Manager.  The employee is responsible for a variety of duties with primary responsibility for supervising four geographically separated Vehicle Repair Shops and Refueling sites (Front Royal, VA, NZP in Washington DC, Suitland MD, and Edgewater MD).

    • Oversees the operation of four geographically separated Vehicle Repair Shops, develops and oversees plans for the scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of the mobile asset fleet consisting of  passenger carrying vehicles,  light and heavy duty trucks, construction and materials handling equipment, three and four wheel scooters and carts, grounds equipment, aerial lifts, boats up to 65ft long, outboard engines and trailers.
    • Prioritizes and schedules work for the Vehicle Repair Shops, plans work schedules and sequence of operations for subordinates and establishes deadlines and priorities.
    • Determines manpower needs for the vehicle repair functions as well as equipment, parts, supplies and budgetary requirements, and presents and justifies these needs to higher management.
    • Prepares reports with regards to production, equipment, material and maintenance required, and personnel management.

    Travel Required

    Occasional travel - This position requires a steady travel regimen to geographically separate repair shops to meet with staff and stakeholders.
