WHAT IS THE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (IT) DIVISION?
The mission of IRS Information Technology is to provide leadership in the delivery of information technology solutions that anticipate and meet enterprise-wide needs by empowering employees to deliver customer-centered, value-creating systems, products, services, and support.
WHAT DOES A COMPUTER ASSISTANT DO? IRS Computer Assistants provide support to internal customers that involve a wide range of hardware and software issues, including setup, data collection, system failures, file recovery, testing, inventory control, and data communications.
As a Computer Assistant you will:
- Plan and deliver a full range of customer support services related to the organization, including print options, electronic document management, media management, problem reporting and resolution, and training.
- Provide on-site customer support, on-the-job training and/or formal training.
- Monitor systems status and performance, observe and respond to system messages, resolve trouble tickets, and define, isolate and resolve operating problems, failures and malfunctions.
If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
