The Associate Director, Interpretation, Education and Volunteers, National Park Service (NPS), Department of the Interior, is responsible for the executive direction and line management of division managers for each of the following functional areas concerning interpretation and education: Harpers Ferry Interpretive Design Center, Cooperating Associations, Volunteers-in-Parks program, interpretive training and development, and comprehensive program evaluations.
The Associate Director is also responsible for the following: 1) providing leadership, policy development, and national level guidance for the National Park Service Interpretation, Education and Volunteer organization and programs; 2) managing a balanced integration of the environmental and education philosophy and establishing priorities and direction over a wide variety of educational programs; 3) providing service wide program development, technical assistance and leadership in the Interpretation, Education and Volunteer functional areas.
