    Summary

    The incumbent of this position IT Specialist (PLCYPLN/INFOSEC) is located in the Cybersecurity and Data Protection Directorate within the Technology and Integration Office for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Electronic Health Record Modernization (OEHRM), within the Office of the Deputy Secretary of VA (DEPSECVA).

    Responsibilities

    Major Duties:

    • Independently identifies and develops new policy or recommends changes to existing VA policies, standards and procedures for managing interagency cybersecurity and privacy strategies.
    • Ensures that changes, modifications, additions, or upgrades are in accordance with established cybersecurity and privacy related legal and regulatory requirements.
    • Prepares, manages, reviews the preparation, coordination, and publication of regulations, policy, supplements, memorandums, pamphlets, or circulars concerning Department of Defense (DoD)/VA EHR solutions to raise cybersecurity and privacy awareness.
    • Reviews and coordinates draft versions of policy, procedures, and standards with personnel within Program Executive Office Defense Healthcare Management Systems (PEO DHMS), VA OEHRM, Interagency Program Office (IPO), other Federal agencies, and key health record service providers.
    Work Schedule: M-F 8am - 4:30pm This position is not a virtual position.

    Physical Requirements: This position is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required. Some work may require walking and standing in conjunction with travel and to attendance at meetings and conferences away from the work site. Some employees may carry light items, such as papers, books, or small parts. The work does not require any special physical effort.The person selected for this position may be designated to perform as a Contracting Officer's Representative (COR), which will require the person to obtain and maintain the appropriate Federal Acquisition Certification (FAC).

    Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel 20 % of the time for this position.
