Working as an IT Specialist (System Administration) in the Office of Information Systems Management, Applications System Division, you will: Use WebLogic Server to manage NIST applications such as Workplace Inspection Reporting System (WIRS), Visitor Center, Standard Reference Material (SRM), Bankcard, and NIST Associate Information System (NAIS); use Tomcat to manage applications such as NIST Center for Neutron Research Information Management System (NCNR-IMS), Management of Institutional Data Assets (MIDAS), Bank Card, NIST Administrative Portal (NAP), and the Organization Chart. Apply monthly security patches to WebLogic Server and Tomcat. Implement the iEdison project via Docker and GitLab in NIST's Amazon Web Services (AWS) internal and external Virtual Private Clouds. Involved in the iEdison architecture design and planning. Work with system administrators (SA) to implement DevOps concepts and deploy code via Ansible playbooks and Ansible Tower jobs. Verify all supported applications after SA has applied operating system (OS) patches. Reads and understands Java code to assist developers with application bugs, network issues, application account authentication problems, database connectivity problems from the application, and server troubleshooting. Manage the iEdison project to move application servers to AWS via automation by Git/GitLab/Ansible/Ansible Tower. Manage the project to implement continuous development (CD)/continuous integration (CI) Docker/Container transition and conversion and AWS/EC2 implementation. Maintain documents and SOPs for disaster recovery. Backup administrator for Password Manager Pro and Foglight products. Develop and maintain documentation for supported systems, processes, services, and projects for which the employee is responsible.
Perform and assist with quality assurance activities; fix any issues identified by Tenable scans. Participate in training and / or customer support activities as needed.

Basic Requirements:
This standard allows eligibility through meeting either the requirements specified in the section titled Education or the requirements specified in the section titled Experience.
Education: All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions
Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.
For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The physical worksite for this position is located in Gaithersburg, MD. However, the OISM/Applications System Division is currently under a maximum telework posture due to the COVID-19 pandemic; therefore, this position is currently under a 100 percent telework schedule. The position’s telework schedule will likely change in the future when OISM/Applications System Division moves away from its maximum telework posture. At that time, the incumbent will be expected to report to the physical work site in accordance with the updated status requirements of their supervisor. The nature and scope of future telework opportunities will be subject to the unit’s telework policy, any applicable bargaining unit agreements, and supervisory approval. Payment of relocation expenses, as applicable, will be paid in accordance with this Job Opportunity Announcement.
