    Being an Information Technology (IT) Specialist (Applications Software) makes you an invaluable member of the FLETC team. This position is located in the IT Service Management (ISM) Branch, of the Enterprise IT Services Division (ITS), within the Chief Information Officer (CIO) Directorate and in Glynco, Georgia.

    Typical assignments include:

    • Developing solutions that improve productivity and collaboration at FLETC using available tools such as SharePoint, Microsoft 365, Azure Platform-as-a-Service and Media Services.
    • Maintaining a technical awareness of the component and component infrastructure, systems, regulations and standards, as well as the latest technologies available to ensure the best possible solution is implemented to carryout effective and efficient system failovers with minimum negative impacts to the line of business owners. 
    • Ability to find the best technical solution among all possible solutions to solve business problems.
    • Translating the structure, characteristics, behavior, and other aspects of software to stakeholders.
    • Identifying possible Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) or Government-Off-The-Shelf (GOTS) solutions and guiding the customer through the acquisition and vendor support process.
    •  Participating in the identification and development of new services.
    • Providing ongoing monitoring of the ITSM tool to include identification, resolution, and escalation to proper individuals.
    • Translating complex regulatory compliance requirements into secure technical implementations.
    • Planning and overseeing tasks to ensure they are completed in a timely fashion and within budget. Planning and designating task resources, preparing budgets, monitoring progress, and keeping stakeholders informed.
    • Managing changes to the task scope, task schedule and task costs using appropriate verification techniques. Establishing and maintaining relationships with third parties/vendors. Creating and maintaining comprehensive task documentation. Tracking task performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals.
    • Meeting with customers to elicit and clarify requirements.
    • Developing comprehensive task plans to be shared with customers as well as other staff members.
    • Participating in the identification and development of new services. 
    • Performing implementation and system management of tools to provide adequate IT system incident reporting and request fulfillment. Reviewing incident tickets for content, proper routing, first call resolution, problem detection, and timely closure. Verifying all operational processes and procedures are clearly documented and maintained. Managing and communicating high severity issues through resolution, providing accurate and timely status reports to management. Participating in the design and development of new services.
