    Summary

    This position is located within NINDS, Division of Translational Research (DTR). The incumbent will supervise other scientists and staff who oversee work on complex research projects and personally manage a portfolio of drug discovery and development cooperative agreements and contracts in DTR. The incumbent will work with the Helping End Addiction Long-Term (HEAL) Optimization of Non-Addictive Therapies to Treat Pain program. The incumbent will directly report to the director of DTR.

    Responsibilities

    As a Supervisory Scientific Project Manager (Drug Discovery and Development), you will perform the following duties and functions:

    • Define project objectives; plan, execute, and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within budget; oversee quality control, assemble data, and manage program budgets.
    • Supervise Scientific Project Managers, other scientists, and support staff and direct work so that it is focused on research goals.
    • Establish and manage a portfolio of drug research and development grants, cooperative agreements, and contracts with trans-NIH scope including responsibility for all aspects of administration (i.e., organizing and managing).
    • Develop project plans and associated communications documents; manage the day-to-day activities of assigned programs and projects; direct and manage project progression from beginning to end; and estimate the resources needed to achieve program and project goals.
    • Build, develop, and grow relationships vital to the success of the Program or Project to establish worldwide collaborative relationships among government, academia, and industry that are focused on the search for therapeutic interventions and treatments for neurological disorders.
    • Ensure that projects are managed and executed in line with the rules and governance of NIH and NINDS Extramural Funding.
