    Summary

    This position is in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Information and Technology for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Office of Information and Technology (OIT), DevOps, Service Management Office (SMO). The SMO facilitates the implementation and improvement of IT Service Management (ITSM) services, processes, and technology to ensure focus on business goals and customer needs.

    Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required.

    This position involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed below represent the full performance level of GS-12. At the GS-11 grade level, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. You will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS-12. Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher level work, and availability of funds. Promotion is not guaranteed and no promise of promotion is implied.

    Major Duties:
    • Evaluates the impact of changes in business needs on current policy and develops solutions to be presented to leadership.
    • Ensures that the VA IT strategic plan, mission, vision, and values are integrated into work products and services to optimize IT resources that are utilized across the Department.
    • Develops and prepares management reports and other pertinent information relating to the Service Management Office (SMO).
    • Produces technical instruction, user, and process documentation for customers, and technical manuals as needed in support of Development Operations and SMO activities.
    • Protects data from unauthorized release or from loss, alteration, or unauthorized deletion.
