The Information Technology Specialist (Customer Support/Network Services) position is located in the Field IT Support Branch, IT Operations and Support Division of the Chief Information Officer Directorate in Artesia, New Mexico.
Being an Information Technology Specialist (Customer Support/Network Services) makes you a valuable member of the FLETC team and mission. You will be responsible for providing support for end-user Electronic and Information Technology (EIT) customer support functions, providing technical/administrative support of Local Area Network (LAN) functions, serving as the backup Communication Security (COMSEC) User Representative and as the local Information Systems Security Officer, and performing a variety of IT special projects.

To qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you must possess the following:
At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the federal service planning and delivering customer support services to include the acquisition, inventory control, and management of Electronic and Information Technology (EIT) hardware and software including market research, preparation of acquisition documentation, enterprise license tracking, maintenance of EIT, and disposal of EIT in response to customer requirements.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
The Office of Personnel Management must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. Physical Demands: The work is primarily sedentary. May frequently be involved in the installation of all types of EIT equipment. This might necessitate lifting and carrying of equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment: The majority of the work is performed in an office setting. However, the position may be required to assist in the installation of equipment throughout the facility and requires occasional travel. Working hours are within the typical workday, however, maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting may require overtime or weekend support.
