    Prosthetics and Sensory Aids Service is looking for a Purchasing Agent to join their team! The position is located at the New Mexico VA Health Care System. The Purchasing Agent is responsible for the timely acquisition of a wide variety of medical, scientific, technical, and specialized supplies, services, and equipment for patients of the New Mexico VA Health Care System as well as numerous CBOC's and an extensive primary service area supported by specialized Clinical and Prosthetic Programs.

    The duties of the position typically include but are not limited to:

    • Perform technical level purchasing support adhering to Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Veterans Affairs Acquisition Regulations
      (VAAR), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), and Prosthetics Directives and Handbooks
    • Provide patient care and support services to an adult population
    • Serve as the point of contact for external customer service inventor needs and support
    • Deduce from written prescriptions or oral requests what items or services are needed
    • Initiat action on "stat" requests within 24 hours, or five (5) working days for routine requests
    • Monitor, receive, track, interpret, and analyze Prosthetic Consults and prescriptions
    • Examine clinical health records and claims folders to determine eligibility and entitlement for items and services

    Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm
